NanoPrecMed Brings Nanomedicine to the Public

NanoPrecMed is focused on developing nanobioparticles for precision medicine and on strengthening collaboration between research and industry. It is a complex topic usually delivered to a specialized audience. Yet, at the same time, the project also addresses audiences outside the scientific and industrial communities through public science events, investing in the experts of tomorrow.

After its successful debut at the Long Night of Research, where the Medical Research Mile in Vienna attracted 13.000 science enthusiasts, NanoPrecMed now made its way to Czechia with a double feature:  at the Science and Technology Festival, held from 4-6 September and at the European Researchers’ Night on 25 September.

Introducing NanoPrecMed to a wider audience

At the Science and Technology Festival, NanoPrecMed partners from Brno University of Technology introduced visitors to technologies and research areas connected to the project. While NanoPrecMed addresses topics that are particularly relevant to researchers, healthcare and industry, many of the underlying ideas can also be introduced to a general audience. The event attracted a broad audience, including families and children. Public events provide an opportunity to discuss what nanobioparticles are, how they can be used in medicine and how research in this area could contribute to more precise diagnostics and therapies.

NanoPrecMed was also represented at the European Researchers’ Night on 25 September. The annual event gives visitors the chance to explore research through talks, demonstrations, workshops and hands-on activities. For NanoPrecMed, it provided another setting to present the project’s research and technologies, answer questions and discuss how nanomedicine can contribute to more precise approaches in diagnosis and treatment.

    Connecting research with different audiences

Participation in science festivals complements NanoPrecMed’s activities aimed at researchers and industry. Events such as these allow project partners to present their work in a less specialised setting and to engage directly with people who may not otherwise encounter nanomedicine research.

For NanoPrecMed, public science events are therefore another way of making the project’s research and technologies visible beyond the scientific community, while creating opportunities for conversations about the potential applications of nanomedicine. And, of course, for inspiring the next generation of nanomedicine experts.
